Leaders of the northAbraham Lincoln: 17th president of the United Stated, and he supported the North during the American Civil War and thought that slavery should end.
Ulysses S. Grant: He was the commander that Abraham Lincoln was looking for, and he believed in total warfare and he wanted to burn everything so they couldn't provide for his troops. Irvin McDowell: Abraham Lincoln appointed him as the leader of the North during the war, and he was a veteran of the Mexican War. George B. McClellan: He was a Mexican war veteran, he was an engineer, and he was superior in his military skills and was not an aggressive fighter, and he eventually was fired by Abraham Lincoln. George C. Meade: He was appointed the new leader of the Union army, and he was also a Mexican War Veteran, and an Indian Fighter he proved himself at Gettysburg, but he got fired by Abraham because his losses were so big. Ambrose Burnside: The sideburns come from him because his sideburns went all the way from his ears to down by his nose, he was a Mexican War Veteran, he was the new leader of army after Meade, but like the others he was fired. Joseph Hooker: He was an ex Union commander, a Mexican War Veteran, and he was humiliated at the Battle of Chancellorsville and later relieved of his command. P.G.T. Beauregard: While stationed in South Carolina he gave the order to fire at Fort Sumter which was the first battle of the Civil War. Albert S. Johnston: He is one of the finest soliders in the military, and he was the second highest rating confederate officer, and he was to keep the Union from taking the Mississippi River. Thomas Stonewall Jackson: He became the commander at the first major battle Bull Run and he was named stonewall because they said he looked like a stonewall and it stuck because it was his personality. J.E.B Stuart: Led the Calvary corps (horse solider) he was the eyes of the army because of his extraordinary skills in fighting during the battles of wilderness. Nathan Bedford Forrest: He was one of Americas greatest tactical minds he was raised from private to general for his military geniuses. George Pickett: Pickett's Charge was the majority of Lees army, Lee ordered Pickett to charge over the open field of Gettysburg this was a disaster and one of Lees worse military mistakes, it made Pickett so upset that he wouldn't even talk to Lee. |
